You could get really good figures straight up just from playing, plus a lot of materials and rainbow boosters. In its last few months, you could get a shit ton of rainbow booster certificates. Then right before it died, they opened the shop and gave everything for free.
But even before they did all that, I really didn't think it was that bad. I had a pretty damn good team and was F2P. Still used gold-tier figures like the Rotom for rushing people's goals
