So whats the shiny situation in Arceus like? Had the game for a few hours now and I've already caught 2, did I get ridiculously lucky or are the odds sky high now?

The odds double when you finish a Pokedex entry. Then double again if you finish every research task related to a Pokemon.

It's about 1/4000~ but Pokemon are constantly spawning. It's not like LGPE where there's a small area and less than ten, or going one by one.

Imagine constantly doing horde battles. It's kind of like that.

Base odds are essentially the same but you’re probably also seeing a lot more pokemon than you usually would and therefore the chance of seeing a shiny is naturally higher, then when you tack on the bonuses it’s even greater

Huh, that would explain it. I got level 10 research level for one of them, a Wurmple, but the second was an Alpha Bibarel that I hadn't gotten level 10 on.
