How do I catch this guy? I've had so many final battles with him but he just doesn't STAY IN THE FUCKING POKEBALL I need him so badly I have snorlax plush in my room i love them so much. I've maybe tried catching him 10~ times? I keep throwing pokeballs until he wipes my whole team.

So I was wasting my time? The game gave me no indication of that. I'm now trying what you said, so far I've wasted 20 pokeballs and 20 oran berries, here's my process:

Am I playing the game wrong? I'm about ten hours in and have only just beaten Kleavor and opened up the second zone. I'm rotating my team constantly because how the fuck else are you supposed to complete research (not counting the Pokemon that spawn abundantly and can be bruteforced just by catching loads), but as a result they all feel expendable and I don't really have a "team". I feel like I'm getting bogged in down with completionism, but at the same time I want to increase my star rating because otherwise fighting Alphas is pointless because they're all too high levelled for me to use. I'm also worried that if I don't stay on top of completing research, then the workload is going to quickly spiral out of control as I go to new biomes and find new Pokemon, and I might lose motivation to actually ever do it. Should I just stop giving a fuck and do story missions instead?

About 1/2 HP is good enough for great balls and ultra balls to have a good chance of working in battle. By the way, my reflexes are literal shit so I catch snorlax in battle every time.

If you just progress the game to the second zone and spent a few hour catching pokemons and filling the dex for both zone you can easily get to 6 star and that alone will make the obay level to 80 which is more then enough

Quick question: Can I get Darkrai if I beat the game's story before having BDSP save data on my Switch?
I haven't bought BDSP, but I have and just beat PLA. If I start a BDSP save file now, will my PLA allow me to get Darkrai, or will I have to get BDSP save data and then play PLA all the way through again?

Weird thing happened, i was catching clefairy in the hidden place with roselia, under mt cornet, it was at night.
I then saw some weird cartoon stars.
Since clefairy was nearby i though maybe one used metronome.
I then realised it was weird as nothing attacked me, or saw me.
So i looked were the star was, and there was a basculin in the water.
I looked at its name with L2 and found the stars for a shiny next to its name.
It then went under water and never came back up.
Is this a bug?

This was a shiny right?
Are shinies in this game a quick thing, like you have to be quick or else they're gone?
It was only there for a few seconds and then just despawned.

That's pretty good actually, you're only missing the scyther, stantler, luxio and lopunny, in that first region.

I guess snorlax and alakazam too, but you're way to underlevelled for the fodder in that area where they are.

Why do some weird pokemon act aggresssive to you when they shouldn't be.
Like roselia just starts fight with you, but if you fight back, it just runs as soon as it can.
The fuck is her deal?

They're flowers, tons of pokemon aren't aggressive why is roselia one?
What benefit does roselia have to attack everything?
It would just killed in return as it's not that strong it even runs when it can. It feels so out of place, i get roserade doing thst but roselia doesnt strike me as an aggressive pokemon.
Some pokemon like luxray make sense as it hunts, stuff like beautifly just eats flowers, doesn't make sense. Especially since theyre shown to be friendly in the anime and oras

To see an accurate representation of my playable character whenever I save the game. Or speaking hypothetically, it would have been cool if your ID photos were shared with players that you trade with. Would have been a nice incentive to interact with friends given how much they toned down multiplayer aspects in this game. They're not quick, but some Pokemon retreat quickly.
Don't worry though. This game seems to be VERY lienent with shinies. I got a shiny Zubat 4 hours after starting (it wasn't an outbreak) and outbreaks have given me 3 shinies after that BEFORE completing the game.
Outbreaks with Shiny Charm and research boost gives you a lot of rerolls which amounts to IIRC roughly 1 in 125 chance per Pokemon in the outbreak cluster.

Anyways there's an alpha chansey near the blissey. I've found an alpha shinx as well. There's an alpha bibarel in the river shallows you have to cross to get to the kleavor area.

I've been using Samurott but that's obviously dependent on if you chose Oshawott as your starter. Outside of that, unironically Kricketun makes a good False Swiper if you shove Grit down its gullet and level it to shit (help is caught the story Alpha)

being overleveled means fuckall, the damage formula doesn't account for levels anymore and the stat differences are also much less impactful. Alphas and just random wild Pokemon will still be a pain in your ass.

This is my first main game since BW2 so I've been using as many Pokemon as I can to see them in 3D. I'm constantly underdeveloped from rotating despite spending hours just running around.

All these people with level 50/60s before Kleavor are the same kind of people who use a starter only in the other games.
I get that everyone can play their way but this is just ridiculous. None of the alphas disappear if you progress and you're meant to return with no travel tools.

Catch alphas and do back attack a lot.
I end up catching 80+ pokemon per run through a map, I often get so many that the proffesor doesn't bother counting and says i have a lot.
It adds up.
Catch weak easy to catch pokemon like bidoofs, glameows, combee, chingling and others to rack up numbers.

No bro I’ve tried to catch that alpha octillery with lead balls, heavy balls. Everything with point blank range back shots and I’m so done right now. Can’t even fight the thing because it has ice beam and hyper beam all in the same move set one shorting everyone I throw at it. Got it down to red and wasted all my balls while my sylveon tanked it. That’s been my experience with almost all of the other alphas

I just experienced a little bug, threw an Empoleon at a tree to collect some berries and he seems to have vanished from our plane of existence. The only remnant of his being is a bit of water trying to hit the tree but stuck floating there not making contact. I can't call him back to his ball and I can't throw another pokemon at said berry tree.

Anyone experienced something similar? This happened to me in the highlands

Not exactly that, but I got a random crash at the highlands after throwing my Roserade at a tree and speeding off like I usually do. I haven't been able to replicate it at all. Maybe the trees there are just iffy.

Did they change how Bulk Up and Calm Mind work?
Does Bulk Up still only affect atk/def and Calm Mind only affect spatk/spdef or did they change it and made it affect both physical and special stats?
The vague language in this the moveset explanation and how I've generally seen stat buffs in battles leads me to believe they've been homogenized and do they same thing but I'm not sure.
