It feels like Pokemon is willing to introduce the most vapid, stale characters imaginable, all with the expectation that they're going to be beloved and sell the game. Their character designs are getting increasingly cluttered, with tons of patterns on their clothing and different colors in their hair and facial hair, and they're often introduced with quirky traits that are discussed more than they are seen, I.E. Leon's habit of getting lost.

How is it that these characters have more than twenty times the amount of dialogue than, say, Giovanni, Professor Oak, Sabrina, or Clair, and yet hardly make an impression? I really think SwSh and PLA have managed to introduce the worst characters in the entire franchise.
