How does height and weight work? I have a Ralts that's 1'3'' and 16.1 lbs, and the Pokedex says its size ranges from 1'1'' to 1'6'' and 12.2lbs to 16.1 lbs.

Are height and weight separate randomized values? Is it possible to get a Ralts that's the maximum height and minimum weight?

I really like Hisiuan Zoroark but is it a smart idea to use it and Hisiuan Bravery on the same team? Team set up is really important in this game as it seems like levels can't carry you through the game because your enemy always seems to get the first move no matter what at least in my experiences those damn sisters all got to move before me, those damn rift pokemon all got to move before me as well fucking Onixes and Ursurings I wish I could bring out my own 3 and kick their asses fairly but the game won''t allow that even through those two clan leaders fight you 2 pokemon on 1

the balls have a limited distance that they can be thrown from. if you are too far away they won't have an effect. there is a sweet spot this is close enough for them to work and far enough that they don't see you

By the way, I saw a flying red gyarados by a waterfall how the fuck do you attract it's attention to draw it close enough to fight it or at least lob a ball at it? Even the feather balls I had couldn't reach the fucker, he likely won't be there the next time I go but man was it a sight. A terrifying one, made me paranoid that I'll be running along the field and suddenly get targeted, can't see what's targeting me and end up getting hyper beam'd from above from more of these things

Shit like this is why I hated going through those xenoblade games, the aggresive enemies that have a wide detective range over you would always go SURPIRSE MOTHERFUCKER! and suddenly a rock get thrown your way one shotting you or a giant bird come swooping down without warning. I hope pokemon encounters don't become like that

Wow the post game battle with *redacted* followed by two stages of *redacted* is actually a bit of a challenge.

I'm definitely underleveled and without an optimized team, but I am gonna have to level up a bit and use some of those IV items finally. Probably pack some max revives and I should be good. I got to the final phase a couple times but he just comes in with an agile + strong combo and it's enough to wipe out any single mon you might have remaining

On a related note, what are some good mons for giratina? I'm sub level 70, so a high level alpha can easily sub into my team with no stress.

typhlosion can't ohko, and gets ohko'd in return. same with garchomp and sylveon. I guess dialga would have good typing.

If you retry, no. I don't know what happens if you don't retry though.
All trade evolutions are evolved through either the link cable item or from whatever item you had to trade them with (e.g. metal coat)

Genies are an hassle with their frame 1 tornados. I just cheesed the fourth by walking up to him until 3 dots appeared, then chained smoke bombs to get in range of a jet ball, and repeat 3 times until shield broke and I could send a pokemon out.

Cakes make mons even easier to catch iirc. With normal ingredients (honey, beans, mushroom, etc) usually the indicator becomes yellow while they're eating, meanwhile with cakes it can become green. but backstab + 3rd tier balls + normal food is more then enough

Mushroom cakes will make late-game alphas especially easy to catch. I've never had a need for the other cakes. Maybe if you wanted to catch some unruly mons in pokeballs and needed them to calm down you might need a cake.

This one actually raises a question for me: how in the fuck do you tell what the relative size of a Pokemon is when they're in the wild other than just eyeballing it and hoping for the best? I think black ones too but they are rare and I can never tell sometimes when I find them as I'm just mindlessly farming the stones for Pokeball materials and I'll come across one randomly from time to time, found a water, thunder and dusk stone from this method. Not saying the rate is good but they can be found this way.

Map resets (go back and forth between town and camp) will force outbreaks to spawn but it still will take a while, just what I noticed while map resetting for a shiny in the outbreak I want—outbreaks will spawn on other maps or overwrite the one on my map as I reset it

copy/pasta:

1) Disable autosave
2) travel to the area with the mass outbreak and SAVE there
3) travel as fast as possible to the mass outbreak site especially using braviary so you can see the shinies from overhead without being spotted. If shiny, land and save and catch the shiny. If not shiny, fast travel back to camp, attempt to travel back to jubilife/ancient retreat.
4) See if the mass outbreak is still there.

If there - repeat steps 2-4.
If not - reload your save
Pic related is what I got after 1 hour.

the seed of the map is set before you go. So if you save in jubilife you’ll be starting on the same mons every time you go into the zone unless they despawn due to time and push the next queue of mons up which could be shiny

I've been hunting for a shiny rotom all day and those fuckers are both capture resistant and will automatically all go hostile on a failed capture, even if you're in hiding. It takes less time to just keep checking the starting group than to clear them out by force.

Like eevees spawn just east of fieldlands camp in the first map you could just keep checking very close to first camp and resetting

I just did the avalugg fight and man was it bad.

Filtered doesnt mean that you lost once or even a few times.

Also i probably explained it wrong but when you get hit, you fall and if you get hit by the big spikes, the small spikes stay in their place, and their range is pretty big, so when you get up yes you have time for a single roll, but the range of the small spikes is still larger than the distance you can roll, so you get hit again.
Plus my switch was shitting itself and couldn't render it well which added to me getting hit randomly, when the video showed nothing wouls hit me.
I dontknow if you're overclocking or not, but I've seen a bunch of people compain about performance issues.

I used the alpha Goodra you can grab above the quarry. Shelter kept it from getting hit by shadow force long enough for PP to run out, and then it was pretty easy to take it down with an alpha Mismagus, which can also be caught in the area.
Just make sure you use a max revive or max potion on them before the battle with volo ends.

I just started the game and the pokedex goals want to you catch a shitload of the same pokemon.
Should I just start releasing them when my box starts to fill up, or is there something else I should be aware of before I do that?

Also, I ran into Eevee in the first area, but haven't seen another one since. Is it just a super rare pokemon or did I fuck up?

You can just releasse them. You get the ability to select multiple for release a bit later and get rewarded with grit items for letting a bunch of them go.

In the first map Eevee only spawns in the Horseshoe Plains. It's uncommon, but shouldn't be that rare to find.

You can release multiple at a time at some point. Just check in with the stable girl every now and then and she’ll give you the ability. Eevees are rare but not THAT rare. They’ll just be a bitch if you’re trying to do it “now”, but they spawn in a lot of places. Evolutions included.

There are very few shinies that I think look better than the original so I don't bother with shiny autism for the most part anymore. It only made sense to me as a differentiator in grade school if you were the only one out of your group of friends that had a particular one. Action Replays killed that mystique ages ago for me.

There's a spot where you can scale the mountain on Windbreak Stand. Beware though I don't think you're meant to be there because the wild pokemon are 10 levels higher.

The worst part is that it's so rushed, yet still feels like it drags on too long. If it had more buildup throughout the plot and actually took advantage of being banished somehow, like having a survival game style section or something, it could have been an excellent sequence. They constantly hammer in that you're working for food and shelter - they could do something like have a section where you don't have access to your item box anymore, only have items you craft in the field, and need to go foraging for food and find a safe spot to rest. Then during the night, because you have no shelter, you're cold and alone and the scent of the food you cooked lured in an Alpha leading a small pack of wild pokemon that you need to fight. It'd only need to be a single in-game day before Volo finds you and brings you to Cogita, but it'd sell the "Pokemon are dangerous and you'll die in the wilderness alone" atmosphere the game had been trying to build up much better than having the player sit by a river and watch some Shinx frolicking. The game constantly tells you Pokemon are dangerous but when you're at your weakest, you watch a pack of dangerous predators playfully frolic through a field. It's nonsense. In its current state it's too short and rushed to be good because it doesn't take advantage of what's happening to be good and doesn't take the time to sell what's happening to the player, which leads to the whole sequence feeling pointless, leading to the player just wanting to get it over with.
