>>49507643That was a switch that happened gradually though.
If I understand it correctly, Male-exclusive Pokemon tended to be the counterparts to female-exclusive Pokemon, which had mother/breasts function. Nidoran and Volbeat can produce the offspring of the other kind even if they can't evolve directly into that, but ones such as Braviary and Mandibuzz seem entirely arbitrary to be only one kind. This causes some male-exclusives to seem strange they can reproduce based on the mechanics of the game, since non-Ditto pairings would make the mother's species.
7/8 Male was "rare" species to make them more difficult to breed such as starters or fossils. Combee uses this as a simplification of bee's social structure, while other social insects such as Durant have a 50:50. Salandit is a weird case which seems to be designed backwards from Salazzle being the signature mon of a human character who commands multiple weaker humans. If it was based on asexually reproducing lizards, then it would likely have a female 100% species. Litleo's ratio is based on Prides having multiple female to few male adults as the only mostly female species.
25/75 seems to be a softer "This is manly/girly" that doesn't fall in the above classes. 75% male seems to be mostly a Gen 1 thing with the later cases being from Machop-likes or crossgen evolutions. Growlithe is paired against Ninetales like the original games, but they are not exclusively one kind, which is funny since both Electabuzz and Magmar are male in this situation. Also most the cases are human-like breeding group, to the point I wonder why they had Hitmon family not here. Female 75% is larger, and full of things that are likely there because they are pink. Compared to the males, Gothita is the only human-like one, with most straight up going to female 100%.
What I take away from looking at them is that gender distribution seems to be arbitrary with even counterparts not matching. At most is a "girl line" per game.
