>>49507290True, but Gym Leaders, rivals, Elite 4, etc. have the perk of being required to progress in the story. There have been people who beat BW without ever even meeting either Subway Boss because they're tucked away behind the Battle Subway, which makes them pretty obscure. This was the case for me with Caitlin and Darach too. Saw them in a guidebook when I was a teen and didn't have a clue what they were because I wasn't into the whole Battle Facility thing. The fact that they're almost hidden but still became so popular was particularly interesting.
It was a surprise when I saw B2W2 actually made them stand outside so that people would have a chance to actually see them. It was the first sign that they were being recognized as characters people really liked the designs of, so they threw the fans a bone, so to speak.
>>49507270>some things don't add upI was actually thinking about it too, there's a lot of mixed signals were everyone in Jubilife talk about how terrifying Pokemon are but then in the Pearl settlement there's an NPC who says that without Pokemon, many of them would have died in the harsh icy climate of that part of the region. I honestly think it might just be Jubilife citizens and the Galaxy guys that have seen the worst of all the Pokemon so they have a healthy fear of them that others in Hisui don't seem to have to that degree. The Diamond and Pearl clans seem to coexist with them more the way people in the future do.
>I wouldn't be surprised if a good chunk of these characters were actually the modern characters but were pulled at different time frames in their lives and had lost their memories or had them rewrittenCoin/Candice is the one that seems especially similar, with the only real difference being some clothes and facepaint. At least with ancestors of a different gender, those are definitely not the same characters. Arezu is also very different from Mars. Maybe it's going to be a DLC thing?
