Pokémon is extremely time consuming and even with Gen 8’s qol improvements it is notoriously difficult to get fully viable competitive mons. Injecting takes a few minutes at max.

I was just focused on the VGC part, with out context of what someone did in a Monolocke. Cheating in any kind of nuzlocke is just cheating yourself especially since its all self imposed rules

Yeah I don't knoa why people refuse to acknowledge this. Even before Pkhex was super accessible people were using Action Replays to get everything they needed. If they didn't dump their save with a dongle or an Action Replay that supported it they were still using codes for the desired IVs, or using flashcarts and trading over hacked mons. Fuck, I bet people were using Code Breaker or ADV Save back in the GBA days since there were tournaments back then.

Pokesav was the thing to use before PKHex. I'm not sure it was compatible with gen 3, but you didn't even need any tools on gen 4 because you could send hacked mons through a virtual gts. This was probably worse back then because there was no legitimacy check for Pokemon participating in wifi battles.
