It would be hollow anyway. None of the characters look or act the way they used to, and they'd just go away again the next episode.

This, as a Lucariofag seeing Ash finally get one this season made me feel absolutely nothing, just like Misty, Brock and dawn returning and Ash winning the league in alola. All of those things should have happened in XYZ at the absolute latests or in a hypotetical future season that more closely matches the style of the anime during the first six generations but as it is right now, no fanservice feels earned or natural.
