I don’t think that map is entirely accurate. I suspect that Staravia you’re seeing is a random Alpha and not a static one. The map has mons like Bidoof, Eevee, and Geodude listed as Alphas even though those are clearly random spawns.
Also, Golbat should have an Alpha marker by the tunnel.

Credits are rolling. And I still have a lot to do. I know someone's gonna be an ass about it when I say this, but honestly? Best Pokemon game in years for me. It was just a ton of fun to play and had a story I actually engaged in. Really all I wish is that it had voice acting. But I can't remember having this much fun in Pokemon since... none of the side quests are super important, especially if you haven't slowly been doing them as you played. only ones you'll really care about are the wisps and the legendary stuff. side quests are good for getting certain items and unlocking customization options but that's really it.

- make sure you’ve progressed the story enough to allow random alphas to spawn
- you can just clear the bidoofs and rest until day/night instead of going to/from village
- pretty rare, considering eevee is already a rare spawn, and alphas are rarer still

yeah, i know. at the time i didn't think i'd go for the shiny charm, i just wanted arceus. led to me quickly evolving a lot of pokemon that were very annoying to find again. muchlax, cherubi. saving grace was getting a togepi outbreak, that helped a lot.

to be fair we have no idea if that's the case, that's just how the timeline works if you assume the pokemon timeline is identical to ours, which isn't necessarily the case. the level of technology seen in PLA, coupled with the obvious allusions to the Hokkaido expansion, suggests the game takes place in whatever the pokemon world's equivalent of the Meiji era is, which for us was 100-150 years ago.

I tend to fight more than catch
fight, bust up rocks, bust up trees, run from alphas because despite my strength there's tends to KO my pokemon before I can slip a revive on them, my dex is 106 pokemon seen and only 68 caught too so I need to get on that as well before I go after Electrode while at the same time I wanna get a shiny Gardevoir, I like the one I have now but a shiny would really match the basic outfit as well as a great ball pretty well don't you think?

Problem with that is even through their research is 10 I'm having no luck finding an outbreak of them and I'm not good at remembering where the materials are to craft Great Balls

Need to make profiles yeah. There is a Reddit post someone linked that shows all the Pokemon by primary type. I think the only type you can't make a team for is Dragon.

Is it worth having Dark Pulse in Overqwil and Shadow Ball on Basculegion even if their stats don't back up their attacks?

God I hope dlc adds more retooled moves back, unique stuff like Payday would still work great with the new battle system, and then something like a retooled Phantom Force, maybe it Obscures your pokemon for a few turns?

I have neutral natures on my Goodra, Overqwil, and Basculegion to let them use both of their types STAB. Honestly without enemy competitive sets it’s been fine so far, coverage is too important. Worried that Volo has good natures and effort levels but so far no issues

Returning to the village is the only reliable way to change spawns.

Smoke bombs are literally portable tall grass if you don't have tall grass around, set one up and keep refreshing it as needed before it fades then start chucking balls. Distract with berries if needed to get some back catches.
If you get seen, get on Wyrdeer and bolt to the other end of the dome, reset up your smoke ball field, then go back to it.

Nice, is it worth getting the female Basculegion for a better offensive spread? I like the male design a tiny bit more I think, but I suppose both with Calm Mind would work too. Think I'll go -Def +Atk/SpAtk though depending on the gender, and maybe -SpDef +Atk for Overqwil. Not sure if neutral might be better overall...

Early on the game is hard because it wants to encourage stealth. It's also just easy to die in general since you can freely craft potions and revives or just fast travel to camp and heal whenever you want. Eventually you hit a point where you've got enough levels and grit items to tilt the odds in your favor, but it takes a little while.

Areas are generally pretty empty, once you've explored them thoroughly once nothing ever really changes aside from the occasional rare spawn, which is more annoying than interesting since it's RNG that can't be reset without leaving and re-entering the zone. The Porygon line are the designated rare spawns for distortions in the Mirelands, they're rare in general, with the evolutions being even rarer. Add on the random chance of them being an Alpha and you're looking for something that's pretty uncommon.

Nah, it just expands when you hit a certain amount. You're right in that you should complete Dex entries before releasing Pokemon, though. It's not a huge problem but if you happen to catch something rare and release/evolve it before completing its entry you'll be kicking yourself in the ass for it later. But in general you're intended to release Pokemon, you even get grit items for doing so.

Not that rare. If you want a specific Pokemon just keep visiting it's spawn. Otherwise Swarms give you more chance of it appearing. I wanted an Alpha Scyther for instance that wasn't the set high level one and it turned up on my fourth run of the Scythers.

The only difference between balls is purely cosmetic. Literally nothing else changes. You don't actually join the clan, it just changes which NPC appears in a handful of spots, and they don't even do anything.

I don't really understand why people criticize the "bland" and "empty" open world so much. I'm one of the first to hate on that sort of stuff but so far (I'm in area 3 now) every area has been pretty geographically memorable. Like, I know exactly when I'm in the deertrack heights and where exactly I am in them, I know exactly where I am in the heartwood, or which direction I need to go to get to certain places, just from memory.

Which means that it does the "being open" part just as well as BOTW imo and people praise that game's world design. Did they want more "?" western open world style "points of interest" scattered throughout the map like shitcher 3 which I played having the map open 50% of the time.
and then of course your actual points of interest are kind of the Pokémon, no?
I mean yea catching gets kinda repetitive but I feel like the game does a better job at being open world then any western open world game

Just make sure you're doing the correct method of reloading. Save on the map with the outbreak, catch/scare away all the mons, then if no shiny RELOAD your game, go to jubilife and head back where you were (if your outbrerak disappeared reload again), to reroll the spawn pool

Yeah, past the area with the alpha snorlax almost all the way to the south, near the area with the Alakazam alpha where abras, mime jrs, mr mimes, gastrodon and shellos spawn.
It's a bit hard to get there low leveled because nigger luxrays keep getting triggered and chasing you.
I've also caught an eeve in the first area near the ponyta spawn, it usually has bidoof spawning but I've seen and caught an Eevee there, I tried getting another one but I haven't had any luck I'm rank 3 if that helps.

it isn't drizzle, it is heavy rain. if you look in the pokedex, the mons have "preferred weather" and you can see all the symbols. now when you open the map it will use the same symbols to tell you what the weather is. sleep over and over until you get the heavy rain symbol
