I have been in the Minecraft speedrun community since the beginning and I can safely say Dream was just riding the wave and isn't responsible for it at all. people have been speedrunning minecraft like this since 2012.
Now, the similarity between all 3 variations of this post, is that while the topic at hand has obviously existed for a long time, the subject (PC, Rick and Morty, Dream) are clearly responsible for their mainstream popularity. It doesn’t matter if some bumblefuck nobody has been Nuzlocking like this for 12 years with a small group of fellow bumblefuck nobodies, PC was clearly the youtuber who broke hardcore nuzlockes into the spotlight and started the trend of more people doing it. Yes, it existed before him, but he is objectively the reason it’s popular. Losers doing it 12 years ago doesn’t mean it was popular 12 years ago, your average casual Pokemon fan didn’t even know what a regular fucking Nuzlocke was until PC. You’re falling into the rabbit hole of assuming that because you had knowledge early, everyone did. Hardcore loser ass Pokemon fans like you and me have known about hardcore Nuzlockes for a decade, your average Pokemon fan only just learned via PC. Try and keep up.
