I've literally thrown 100 balls at this motherfucker on a red life bar, he can't hit my ghost Pokémon so I'm just spamming balls at this moment.

Am I doing something wrong, or is this game just retarded?

It’s shiny if it runs around in a circle for around 10 seconds roughy, then will usually go back to what’s it’s doing. Then when you battle them they will be another color.

Sneaking is a waste of time. If you run up to them, dodge their attacks, and throw a few sticky globs, you can stun and capture them in less than a minute. This game really does treat battle as a last resort.

wing ball range is usually more than enough to get them before they get alerted. even if you fail they try to do a run and it gives you opening to throw another ball. if you somehow screw up just run a bit further away, they lose their aggro, throw wing balls again.

It appears when you can lock on to a pokemon. If it's a high catch rate then it goes green.
Proximity doesnt affect it.

It's not a matter of distance, it's a matter of what the Pokemon is doing at the time.
Vespiquen, and most bug Pokemon, like honey so their catch rate increases when eating it. Cakes add a boost on top of that.
When eating, Pokemon are less likely to notice you if you're sneaking, and so it's easy to get the back strike boost too.

Just stay away from walls, because when your character slips on uneven ground, that does alert Alphas

No, but you cant boost catch rate with berries/back strikes if you’re in battle. Red HP+status probably is equivalent, but spamming balls in combat as opposed to out of combat turns your mons into meatshields unnecessarily.

I've caught so many alphas by just throwing an oran berry and then back striking with a gigaton ball that I've lost count. I've rarely even had to do 2 attempts like this

Berries are what I used most because because they're always taking up bag space and work well enough for most things, but I kept a supply of cakes around for alphas.

If you're good enough, I've found that you can distract Pokemon by sending out one of your own, but not close enough to trigger a battle.
They'll turn to look at it and you don't have to waste an item.

Atrention all people who cannot catch Pokémon!
Weavile in this game is absolutely ridiculous. He can hit an agile attack two times and then false swipe all in one turn without a +speed nature.
I have been using standard Pokéball only and catching things just fine by putting them at one HP, and, if they have a low catch rate, switching in my Bronzong or Raichu to status them.

So I have a question about the feather/wing/jet balls. Do they just have a lower activation rate or something? I hit some of the high flying pokemon, as well as a number of Alphas in the back, and most of the time it just bounces off of them.

The alphas usually go in, it only tonks off of them rarely, but Magnezone had like... 10 balls bounce off of him (same with the high flying Gyarodos and some other pokemon that I can't remember)

They still have an effective range, its just longer than other balls. If a mon is outside of that range, like if it’s aggressive, it will bounce off. Try moving a little closer.

A quick test shows that either I'm incredibly lucky or the catch rate doesn't scale with team level.
Either it's rank (I'm Ninth Star) or it doesn't scale at all.
