>>49531896To be forsooth about it they never really show this in the games and only sometimes with Meowth in the anime.
Posting out the above conversation do you honest to God think people are going to think Pokémon have human intelligence or greater? Arceus is easily the most animalistic depiction of Pokemon to date, even more so than New Snap and that game gave them animal cries.
Take for example just walking by in the wild and hearing their cries all around you, or being in town and seeing them herded into pastures while hearing their 8bit cries, or even the only form of communication involves little cute motions and their cries, same with seeing them talk to one another or how they roar and snarl during battle. It adds immersion but at the same time makes the Pokémon appear much more animal like. That's not even adding that the game is just mostly about collecting Pokémon so the professor can study them as if they were wild exotic animals, which in a way is accurate. And while they probably wanted Pokémon fighting back to be cool it just makes them appear as wild animals defending their territory. Little things like that, it doesn't compare to things like this Digimon screenshot

This is the impression people are going to get on the Pokémon especially since Arceus is selling very well. Another thing to note is that the professor doesn't even say anything about Alakazam's IQ in the new dex entry, just that they're powerful psychics which doesn't equate to intelligence. See for example the psychic beetles from underrail with their big brains, they're essentially just normal beetles with psychic powers.
