>>495224787.5/10, best pokemon game since HG/SS.
Still suffers from typical GF clunk that is truly unacceptable for a studio with their experience and disposable cash.
Easy to miss certain sidequests if you aren’t autistically talking to every NPC after every mission, which is bad game design.
Forced EXP-Share most likely to try and make battling as little of a chore as possible, which if players find a core mechanic in a franchise to be a chore then that should be a hint to revamp the battling mechanics. They sort of did with the Agile/Strong moves, but really not enough.
Boss battles are far too easy, I happened to play OoT a week before Arceus launched, and it’s night-and-day to compare the level of competence Nintendo expected from kids in 1998 as compared to 2022. I managed to catch the Origin Forme legendary without even having to battle it, balm’d it so fast that I entered the ‘catch with origin ball’ cutscene before it had finished its first attack pattern to let me battle it normally.
Trainer battles are also too easy, I basically did no grinding and was still able to sweep most trainers in one go despite the fact I spent most of the game 20+ levels underlevelled with unevolved pokemon (trying to complete the pokedex as I went).
Graphically lagging behind what the Switch is capable of. Noticed constant pop-in, especially when soaring with Braviary.
Having to load in to different zones rather than being genuinely open world was a bit of a disappointment.
Lot of features not really fleshed out; using bait and letting pokemon out of their balls for example. The game implies certain pokemon prefer certain types of bait, but I found any pokemon will go after anything you throw out. Meaning there’s little point to use anything other than the common berries.
