When you battle the clan leaders, are the other Pokemon just wild ones that joined in? There was a random Eevee in an earlier battle, and now Adaman has a L64 Leafeon with L32 Vaporeon/Umbreon

How do Effort Levels work?
Do I need to max them before levelling up to tryhard properly or does it not matter? I.e. would a level 100 pokemon with ELs maxed at level 2 have better stats than a level 100 pokemon with ELs just maxed?

Weird how you never get the idea to turn it into a double battle, especially in this game where the pokemon-human dynamic is still growing. Would've been cool if you could forfeit an action slot to add another team member to the battle.

What Pokemon got shafted the hardest by the changes to the battle system? Gliscor got fucked over horribly by losing both poison heal and EQ.

Gotta love how even though I own Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, AND Arceus, I still can't summon Distortions on a cooldown or something.

Rotom gets fucked a bit, Heat especially. Fan's basically unchanged but finally has some more viability compared to his other forms. If Earthquake wasn't cut completely and Ground types didn't generally suck in PLA Rotom would be in a lot of trouble. A handful of new pokemon, like Basculegion and Overqwil, get fucked over by the movepool cuts since they don't have good STABs. Losing Technician and priority moves generally being worthless without high speed to back them up hit Scizor pretty hard, too.

So asking again, what does the survival charm does exactly?
Does it give you more total "HP" on your player character, or does it get used up when you're about to get knocked out?
Does having multiple of them in the bag do anything, or do I only need to hold on to the highest "tier"?

Why would that matter? If it hits one it would hit all of them. You can't seriously be implying that it had Heatproof instead. I haven't had a single Ground attack miss a Bronzong when it shouldn't have, the burden of proof is on you.

I think so? I'm not sure exactly when it unlocks, I figured it was after you beat Beni near the end. It's pretty boring but I'm not a huge fan of the fashion in this game, so it's what I'm sticking with for the moment.

If there is we don't know it. Odds seem to be totally random. The idea that being "active" (catching, battling, doing research tasks, collecting materials, etc.) increases the odds sounds like bullshit considering the amount of time I had to wait between distortions. I couldn't have done more shit if I tried and it still took upwards of an hour.

How early can i get Eevee outbreaks? I have the second zone unlocked. And how do i properly make it spawn? Keep going back to the village and into the field? If an undesired outbreak pops, should i clear it or keep reseting?

Eevee outbreaks in the first zone
Tp back and forth to reset outbreaks
I suggest tping between the second zone and jubilife because tping between a zone and back tends to make the existing out break “stick” so it takes longer to refresh
You don’t need to clear it it’ll reset by itself

I see almost the same mons getting repeated in every new area. Parasect is in every area since the beginning (shinx almost too) and the only night time mons I see are ghastly and zubat line (beautifly changes to dustox too but whatever). They really fucked up the distribution.

I guess I'm sticking with Zorua then. Pretty much any outbreak in Coronet Highlands is guaranteed to be annoying to get to oover and over, while the Zorua one is a straight shot from Icepeak Campsite.

I feel like it's just supposed to take you a really long time. You're given very little indication of where and how to find Cherrim, in addition to it being random and only in certain trees. It's designed more like something that you're supposed to randomly stumble onto over the course of the game than something you're supposed to go out and do immediately. Same goes for the quest with the Combee honey, getting a Combee on Ramanas Island is a complete crapshoot, you're supposed to just check for shaking trees every now and then, not autistically go back and forth waiting for them to spawn.

Cherrim learns Petal Dance at level 50, by the way.

Yeah, it's subtle but the rain is louder and you can hear the wind. I play with headphones so it's pretty clear to me at least. Visually it's very easy to see, there's huge gusts of wind. Same for the difference between snow and blizzard conditions for Tornadus.

Use balls of mud, you gotta hit him 3 times before you can battle him. Best strat is to not jump, because usually when you do, he'll spawn a tornado right in front of the direction you're falling. Take it slow and snake around the twisters.
Easily my least favorite part of the game so far. Didnt die once the whole game and then died twice to Thunderus.

Gliscor is now 'just' Very Good rather than Disgustingly Efficient. Any manner of healing for Gliscor is usually too much, but I still love my boy even if he's a bit weaker. And he was one of the few shinies I found in Arceus too.

Go to the nearest camp and save there
Check every Pokemon at the outbreak
If there’s no shiny, quit the game and you should reload at the camp
Go back to Jubilife

You can check the outbreak the brute force way with skittish ones, by scaring them all. If a shiny pops and you accidentally scare it you can close game and that map seed will be saved and still there when you load in so you can plan your stealthing carefully

The mass outbreak method is the big one, base odds of around 1/170 per outbreak I think
>When you leave Jubilife, the security guy lets you know about mass outbreaks in one or more of the areas

In the boss battles where you throw bags, what happens when you actually do as you're told and use your pokemon? I always just threw bags because I thought it was more fun than doing another regular pokemon battle and it might make it a bit harder, so I never tried using a pokemon.

when you travel to jubilife and back it resets the map seed. Saving at the camp bumps the outbreak seed (for some reason, the seed doesn’t change if you don’t save here every time even though the rest of the map does)

the only wild heracross in the first area is an alpha in the top right corner of the map. it's not gated by any ride pokemon you just need to go through oreburrow tunnel and keep going forward until you enter grueling grove. if you want a normal sized heracross they spawn in distortions in the second area and naturally in the fourth area.

i'm a little confused on reloading to reroll outbreaks
is there a difference between saving at the gate and reloading after checking for shinies versus saving at a camp and reloading after checking for shinies? should I be opting to do it a certain way? tl;dr should I be reloading into the camp of the area of the outbreak or the village and selecting the area with the outbreak?

Its because there are 5 rare spawns:
- Bastiodon
- Rampardos
- Cranidos
- Shieldon
- Dartrix (assuming you are in the post game)
Since you only get 3 rare spawns per distortion zone, and there is a 4/5 for each spawn to not be what you want specifically, you end up with only a 48.8% chance to get what you want. Coupled with the fact that distortion zones are extremely rare, you end up with something thats a pain in the ass to get

You actually can get the starter and his two evolutions in the distortion so the chance in the post game is even lower. In 5 hours all I could get was a Shieldon.
