Sword and Shield were really bad at this as if you spend any time in the wild area you're going to end up even more overlevelled than you would have otherwise.

PLA made it even worse by encouraging a shit ton of grinding for the dex and having level 40 Pokémon available in the first area that can be caught without risk by just standing back and getting lucky

none of the trainer or wild battles are difficult in PLA, the only challenge is maintaining stealth for captures and boss fights
