>>49543001Some people clearly overhype it a little too much. Don't get me wrong, I like the game a lot, 49 hours in, but it has some issues for sure. And as much as I see GF for what it really is, a lazy company doing shit and making me stop buying most product for over a decade, I also see some of the efforts done in PLA. There is something hidden behind this amount of mediocre, safe job. You can clearly see some people in the team tried, someone wanted the game to be good and did a good job on these parts. For that reason, some will feel like it blows away the mainline mediocre games they have done for now 25 years, each and every one of them, and it's not far from being true.
Someone's favorite is just their favorite for nostalgia reasons, every game they did in the far or recent past are way behind a lot of the best games on the same console (and we don't talk about games from other companies, which generally show how bad GF is when doing better on many things with less). People know this deep down and when seeing this game, finally being the "open" world Pokémon they want and with some efforts put in, they are a little overexcited by the prospects and thinks it's the best game they made because, let's be real, what they made in the past isn't really that amazing. It's easy to find games, or even just RPGs, doing everything better than Pokémon on every level, just they don't have Pokémon in it and that's mostly it. So, yes, PLA isn't comparable to the best Switch games, it's not even on the same level, but it's slightly better than what GF offered us since their creation, even more for a spin-off. And it's a spin-off because it looks into the past of the original games, it's still a main serie game, and anyone saying it's mainline just because dumb old GF said so, go look into a dictionary what these 3 notions mean to understand why being a spin-off isn't an insult and is accurate in the context.
TLDR : If you don't want to read, good for you.
