How exactly does the shiny hunting in Mass Outbreaks work?

Can I just save in the area before encountering the Outbreak and then reload the save if I don't find a shiny? Some websites are saying you have to just go back to Jubilife and reset the whole thing.

I've saved in the map, and I'm going to Jubilife then back if the swarm is still there. Can I keep resetting and doing this process from the same save point? Or do I need to effectively repeat the process each time?

Okay, where the fuck do you catch Pichu? I know it's supposed to spawn in Floaro Gardens, Nature's Pantry, and Golden Lowlands, but are there specific spots in those areas? I've been hunting this little shit on and off for days and I have yet to see any sign of it. Hell, I've only seen Pikachu once.

I haven't used it ingame yet but it seems pretty stronk to me. Base 135 Def and SpD, with power shift making those Atk and SpA. Pretty sure that makes him the strongest mixed attacker with access to great type coverage.

You caught me. I do think I need him in place of Umbreon though so I can get fire attacks in the mix. I would have to give Psychic to Dusknoir in place of Calm Mind I think.

From the first camp in the first area, I make a beeline towards the Alpha Snorlax on the western coast. Directly north of that Snorlax is a forest typically full of Wurmple. Sometimes a Wurmple spawn seems to be replaced with a Pichu.

I just use the same set -Hyper Beam. I haven't tried Hyper Beam but I enjoy having an extra coverage move instead, or maybe Shadow Sneak for priority and sniping. But this only matters if you're putting Zoroark into Bank to transfer. Confusion and other things like Foul Play aren't in this game

If you KO the opponent you'll almost guaranteed not move before them when they send in a new mon, which unless you get a lucky matchup should KO back.
Anyway, I'd use Shadow Ball. My experience with bulky mons is that the bulk + CM compensates the lack of damage since nothing can touch you.

Cake with flavour that they like (Gives em green Catch rate)+Sneak up+Heaviest ball (basically always one tier "above" your current best one) back strike, while the ball is shaking dodge away and hide in case it breaks free.

For the really attentive fucker you can Smoke Bomb since i is basically even more effective then grass at hiding, but honestly that is only really "Necessary" for The Level 85 Garchomp who im pretty sure is supposed to be the "Final Boss" of Alpha Catching, fucker was attentive as hell and i had to burn like 20 Smoke bombs to get close and keep veil up between Cake/ball tosses.

Berry+Backstrike+Heavy/Lead/Great/Ultra works fine for most of em, but Cake is seriously OP when you realize their tastes.

If I talk to Cyllene, will I just rank up to 4, and the need to talk to her again to rank up to 5? Or will I jump straight to 5 from 3 if I have the points? I think the only Trade evo that isn't otherwise available is Gengar, Golem/Machamp/Alakazam are all avalable as normal ancounters and/or Alphas.

I think Gengar, Weavile and Porygon Z are the only ones you absolutely need items for that isn't a new Mon or Lord and those kinda have their own caveats.

like 30 minutes in. The first map has a lot of start and stop to it, but less than anything Gen 2 and beyond and once you hit the second map its pretty damn open for you to play.

If all of that is still too hand holdy and linear for you then you should probably give up pokemon, give up RPG's, and probably give up gaming in general. PLA is a lot less on rails than most games these days, god help you if you ever play an actual visual novel like FFXIV.

Just use stealth spray and if they notice you fly around in a circle around them until they stop tracking you. Mind I mean tracking you as in their whole body is turning with you, not when the ellipses stop. You can also use smoke bombs i’m sure, you can also stand and run in smoke bombs without being noticed, as long as stealth spray is up.

I'm doing the outbreak method and saving each time I reroll the map, but I'm getting less spawns now than I was earlier. I was getting 8 scyther per attempt but now only 6 are spawning each time, and I could've sworn there were more than 8 at the start, before I began counting. Is this normal? The ride sniffs out scents, the request is to walk over to the mud and pick up a dropped item. I would never assume I needed Ursaluna for that request since there's no mention of it nor do they even indirectly imply it. Only request I initially thought might need Ursaluna that didn't was the Swinub truffle one and that's more because it covers exactly what Ursaluna's usage covers but for flavor reasons you don't use it there.

Are all alpha pokemon catchable or do I need to pass some requirements first? I just started the game last night and I just caught alpha Kricketune and Luxio. I haven't been able to catch alpha Rapidash, Snorlax or Alakazam though.

They're all catchable from the get-go but you might have to do some fuckery to get their catchrate high enough with basic balls. Cake lures if you can get them usually work combined with back-strikes.

They get easier to catch as you progress, but try throwing a berry, back-striking and putting them to sleep with hypnosis. Used to work pretty well when I was just starting.
