Mine didn't faint until Giratina's second phase, at which point i let Darkrai put it to sleep and finish it off
Used some powerguard to set up during spiritomb, and oneshot his entire team
Though i didn't use the alpha, i raised a Gible myself

If you're actually trying to complete the dex through the campaign and not using the same team the whole time, you're around late 60's early 70's for this fight. It's still winnable but really dependant on how much Giratina decides to use Shadow Force and how much you miss. Lost a few attempts just to missing at key moments

Literally just use a fucking Normal type. The game even puts an alpha zoroark in your path to dab on giratina with.

Amazing fight, I just destroyed after some defeats. Every member of my team did his part. Shaymin ended up being the unexpected mvp, he even delivered the final blow on Giratina

Most of my team was 60 at best when I first reached him, I trained them until they were 68 just like his mons. I wanted a fair fight. They leveled up a little bit because I lost to Giratina a few times.

I didnt catch that many, I just caught the ones I came across organically in my travels
Only completed dex entries when convenient, and did a moderate amount of side quests
I finished that fight at 7 star rank

Not OP but I was rotating my party the whole game using all the mons I wanted to. My highest level at the time was like level 52, levels are highly dependent on how you approach the game.
I just got a bunch of Alphas around Coronet and then used them as item bait for Cresselia to stall his ass into the next millennium.

Sounds pretty fucking boring to me. My team was around 64 and I really enjoyed the fight. I switched mons every now and then and basically left all high level alpha in the box. Steamrolling stopped being fun a long time ago and I will try to find a balance for myself by not going overboard.

Dude, you were severely underleveled. If you played the game, did quests, fought a few alphas, and attempted to complete the dex a little, you should be at least in the 70's when you fight Volo. I was level 75-78 and beat him without ever fainting.

Not really, the quests that lead you to the Volo fight are given to you automatically after you beat Dialga/Palkia. I'd say postgame is after beating Volo because that's when you go catch em all
