>>49550229This, for as shitty and annoying as it is it's some weird psychology trick. Most of the reason that people tend to photoshop their thumbnails like this is that it's more eye-catching. Markiplier for example has a LOT of hideously photoshopped thumbnails. Humans respond to faces, but in a teeny tiny thumbnail, a regular picture of just some guy isn't going to make people look as much since you can't make out the details of his face very well. When you're struggling against YouTube's viciously biased algorithm you have to do more drastic things, more bombastic thumbnails with shitty photoshops and more exciting and obnoxiously worded titles. It's not that they're genuinely that retarded (at least some of the time) but rather they're trying to get attention in the most efficient way they can. The more I learn about how people attempt to manipulate the algorithm (asking questions in videos to get people to comment, promising things if a video reaches a certain amount of likes, etc.) the less I want to engage with creators who do these things, even if I understand it.

Honestly, was the original video even about Pokemon? It seems to get used for mocking genwunner normies a lot.
