I don't really mind if the two are separated, but I have always thought the whole debacle about Competitive Pokémon a little sad. I think it's not as black or white as people like to portray, though the state of the playerbase sure makes it seem like it. If you can warp your head around a metagame, define its threats, win conditions, all of that, you can build a team with your bro mon, and sure, maybe it's mostly outclassed, maybe it's not worth it, maybe there's one matchup that's really tough, but it's not the end of the world, especially granted most players don't go through that effort too.
I think that might just be the biggest issue with Competitive as a whole: The first thing that comes out of it all is the sheer amount of usage Pokémon get, the sample teams people use to try to win. Nothing all that valuable comes out of surface level content displayed by the community: You won't learn to play better, you won't learn how to build a team, there just isn't much to incentivise thoughtful fun.
