Capture system should be standard. The way learning moves, switching moves and the move tutor works should become the standard.
The most important thing for me is it switches back to getting exp for each Pokemon you down. Lead Pokemon getting revenge killed with no counterplay and losing all exp isn't okay.

Do you know how many times you use any given move over the course of a playthrough, anon? Stop treating it like something you're crossing off of a checklist and it won't seem so bad. Jut incorporate it into your normal gameplay.

Yep. Nearly everything has a rock or ground attack to screw it over, and once it evolves you'll notice every enemy in the game has crunch. Not to mention its move pool has awful coverage for special attacks.

You get one additional roll for getting it to level 10 and two more rolls for actually completing it. Unless you really want a specific Pokemon it's not worth the trouble to do the latter.

There's no methods to force distortions. I think best method is do nothing and just wait until distortion show up. You can keep check the map every 5 minutes or so.

I would put more importance on the story but most of the requests are easy enough to finish within a few minutes. I recommend to save the wisps quest and the sea's legend for postgame

If I want to get an alpha female Basculin, do I need to travel between the village and the spawn point between the two small islands every time, or does resting at a camp respawn them? Does scaring them away cycle the spawns or do I need to catch/kill them every time?

go to village and back to reset map seed for it
If you do this you don’t have to get rid of them just check them from afar for red eyes and tp back to camp and back to the village then back out and check again. Repeat til alpha spawns

Honestly moves like hex, barb barrage etc seem to be all but fucking useless in this game. Everything gets KO'd in 2 hits anyway, there's no point in inflicting a status condition to then do a 120 power attack when you can just use 2 80 power attacks in a row.

I've been in the Crimson Mirelands for the last two hours waiting for a time distortion to spawn but still nothing. Is there anything I'm doing that resets the timer until one appears like sleeping at camp or something or am I just unlucky?

Apparently it's like 2 nights per moon phase, so you'll need to get through 14 rests for the other 7. If you have an Ursaring with a Peat Block still, that can indicate whether it's a full moon or not.

Rates have been cut to 1/4096 since Gen 6
In PLA you just have a lot more pokemon spawning at once, and therefore you're rolling the shiny dice more
Getting a pokemon to Research Level 10 increases their shiny odds to 2/4096, getting perfect research increases those odds to 3/4096. Mass outbreaks increase shiny odds massively to something like 1/158

dunno. i can tell you that while finishing the dex i did the same thing. i sat afk in the mirelands for a few hours, just opening the map every few minutes until one finally spawned. after completing it, i traveled to other areas to gather resources and 2 more distortions spawned in relatively quick succession. seems like you get a batch of like 3-4 distortions within 2 hours and then get slapped with a multi-hour long cooldown that you have no choice but to afk through.

yes, but the difference is minimal. rates go from 1/152 to 1/142 if you perfect the dex entry during an outbreak. you can spend an hour perfecting a dex entry if you want, but you're probably better off using that hour leaving and entering the town to get a chance at the outbreak you want.

Try the hot springs in alabaster Icelands. There's 4 Pokémon that spawn right in the spring. If munchlax isn't there, kill/capture all of them and then make it night/day to respawn them. It's a very short walk from the Peak camp so I found this easier than combing the Deertrack Heights. Took me around 30 tries before an alpha munchlax spawned.

Not directly PLA related but, DS romhacks are advancing nicely and now that PLA is out I want to make a Platinum romhack that ties in better, like with the whole descendants and all that. If dex expansion is added I'll add the hisui forms, stuff like that. Let's say I make a rom hack, what would you like to see in it that is in PLA.

Is the passage of time tied to catching Pokemon?
I was trying to force the Ginkgo guy to sell me the last Rotom furniture parts but no matter how much irl time passed or how many times I left the village and came back he never did, then I tried catching lots of random Pokemon and he started selling more stuff again.

"Rolls" are how many times the game tries to spawn a shiny. So if you have one roll it checks 1/4096 1 time, 2 rolls checks 1/4096, then 1/4096 again if the first one isn't shiny, etc.
Rates are your overall odds based on the number of rolls. 2 rolls means ~2/4096 chamce of a shiny, 3 means 3/4096, etc.

Not a question but I finally found a way to bypass the dumbass blocking the bridge in the first area without going further in the story. I'm 50 hours into the game and I've been having fun wandering around the first half of the map, while trying to find some glitches or exploits when I feel like it.
I had to "sadly" use the Damage Speed Glitch - if you get hit during the slipping down animation when trying to climb an unclimbable slope- to be able to get a slight boost of speed, enough to pass the gap, but I always feel like it's possible with a perfect timed roll. It's just way easier with this glitch, though it's not easy to trigger it close to where you can cross the river.
For anyone wondering where and how to cross the river early, it's South of the Horseshoe Plains, where two Buizels always spawn around an Oran Berry tree. The terrain along the river is like a saw-tooth pattern, with two notable bumps way more outward than the others. The left one is the closest to the other side : if you run off of this one (no rolling since the glitch doesn't let you) with the glitched speed, you are close enough to be able to swim and make it on the opposite shore.
For now, I wasn't able to trigger any events or bypass story progression (though I didn't check everywhere since I was able to test only for a few hours, I just went where the Nobles should be and lost myself capturing everything new around to the point I was almost overwhelmed) but now we know it's possible. This could prove useful if someone ever finds a way to trigger events early.

No problem. As soon as I saw the speed glitch, I knew what to do. I've tried to roll off of that spot like 20 times, always being so close to make it to the other side of the river so I knew having higher speed would let us do it.
There are easy setups for the glitch far away from the spot but I only found 2 spots (technically 3 with the Shinxs to the left of the camp but it's annoyingly difficult to do there) to trigger the glitch close to the spot where we can cross : one is using the Alpha Rapidash to hit you around the little rock formation close to it which is easier but also riskier, the other is using the other Buizel(s) spawning straight South of the Horseshoe Plains, to the left of the area I talked about on the map, by using the rock formation to slide while they try to attack you, which is harder but I found a spot where you can easily slide and they will hit you after a while. Or use night time and hope for Drifloon(s) to spawn close to a place you can slide off of since their Hypnosis is easy to use to trigger the speed glitch.

Rectification, just retested it and the Shinxs close to spawn are possible and somewhat easy if you find one able to use Thunder Shock. Time for me to go to the other side of the river and look if I can find new things. All I know, as far as odd things go, is I found a Pearl clan guy in the wild when I never met the clans.

I stock great/ultra for random trash catches, Jets for anything that spots you easily or when trying to stick to grass, especially in distortions, and Gravitons when it's convenient for strong alphas. I've started to find Gravitons not worthwhile because they usually require feeding/smoke-bombing and a few long range Jets to the back usually works anyways. With unlimited money I would use Jets almost exclusively.

This is not exactly true, as it possible to roll a 1/100 chance exactly 100 times (or even more) and never get the desired roll due to bad luck.
If you imagine the roll to be a diceroll, with 4096 sides, you are rolling more and more dice based on the conditions you jave fulfilled ingame. You need only one die get a 4096 for the Pokémon to generate as a shiny.

I think it should replace third versions and mainline should strive to just be two version games as usual. Mainline should definitely adopt from legends, I hope I never see a straightline route in mainline ever again.
I like the game a lot but the new battle system is extremely shallow and I would definitely miss the multiplayer aspects as well.

I caught a bunch of shinys now by flying across the map and looking down all the time.

BUT: Do you only hear the chime/See the sparkles if the pokemon spawns/Loads in your field of vision? I know its kinda hard not to, but waht if i fly in a really high altitude, will i still hear it? Of if it loads outside of my view?

Also, does repeadetly sleeping change the moon fowards until full moon is here, or do i have to load the zone new every time and check for moon phase?

Repeatedly sleeping works. Since the moon takes a while to show up, quickest way to check for full moon is Ursaring + peat block since you can only use it during a full moon.

The "yes" was directed at your actual question, "can they be rematched?". If you fight and kill a legendary the game just tells you that you should try to catch it instead. Most of the time it's as simple as leaving and re-entering the room they're in.

Genuinely curious what people are enjoying about this game. I got past the second area and now every mon either has a personal vendetta against me or immediately runs and they have retardedly far detection, so trying to capture anything becomes a game of dodging attacks while trying to line up throws or risk getting into 3v1s and getting OHKO'd before even getting to move because for some reason everything always outspeeds me even if I'm 10+ levels higher.

Port to the Heights base camp in Obsidian Fieldlands, instead of going straight out down the few steps turn left and go up the hill. After a ridge there's a tree below where two kricketot often spawn. Chase away the Kricketot then go back to the camp and switch to nightfall if it's daytime or morning if it's nighttime. Check back at that tree, Munchlax will spawn walking about around the tree if not chase away the Kricketot again and swap day/night again until Munchlax spawns.

I just did the Shaymin quest and it attacked me and never tried to run, I was able to throw at least 10 Ultra Balls at it before it wiped my team. When I came back later it just ran a few turns in.

If you give a shit about being overleveled for the story then you shouldn't put it off too long, going around catching stuff and beating Alphas will get you a lot of experience. Otherwise there's no reason not to take your time exploring. If you hit the story too quickly you'll eventually be told that you need to be a higher rank before you can go to the next zone.

I did my catching as I went along with the story. Once it became a catch the Legendaries fest I stopped and started getting to 10 research points with all the pokemon. But yeah you should just do what feels right for you.

I'd say just because things are tilted against the player from the start, an agile buff can be the difference between you one-shotting and almost one-shotting the opponent. If you've already got the type advantage it's not really necessary but if you've got a move slot open, no point not throwing in Bulk Up or Calm Mind.

They're at a high level, guaranteed to have three stats with 3 Effort Levels pre-invested, they have good drops and you get a bonus for catching them in your report. Always worth fighting or catching them if you think you can get away with it.
If you mean "is it worth trying for the ~1% chance that a random encounter spawns as an Alpha" then I'd say no unless you just want a big version of that Pokémon for some reason. I don't think Alphas are actually materially better than others of their species (like better IVs or something), the EV investment and tutor moves are something you can give to any Pokémon on your own.

In most cases I don't think buffs are worth it, but if you need to tank/stall or plan on having a Pokémon sweep an encounter then they can be very useful, especially the defensive buff.
Lilligant's signature move Victory Dance is one of the best moves in the game, gives you both buffs plus a 50% damage boost (the "hard-hitting stance" you get from Double Hit), anything she can't kill in one hit with Leaf Blade or Close Combat she can tank with Drain Punch for recovery.

Conditions like weather can affect accuracy. I feel like moves also miss more often in Space-Time Distortions but I can't say for sure.
There's also some moves that are 100% accurate in the mainline games but aren't in this one, like Thunder Wave.

Typhlosion has the better signature move, typing, and just better synergy in general. It's also the fastest. They both have pretty bad coverage. Design-wise it's your call, Samurott looks a little too similar to its original form for my taste, Typhlosion looks weird but I like the fire effects.

Heavy Balls and Feather Balls have nothing to do with the characteristics of the Pokémon. Heavy Balls are more effective against Pokémon that haven't spotted you, but have a short throw range so you have to use them by sneaking up close behind a Pokémon. Feather Balls have a weird throwing angle that lets them fly in a more or less straight line for a long distance, useful for catching Pokémon from far away.
In-battle they provide no additional benefits, but I assume they're still as effective as their Poké/Great/Ultra Ball equivalents.

I don't have the data but I've never had the tier 3 heavy ball break. I constantly throw them in combat and the overworld and have a 100% catch rate even when they're at full health or aggressive. Haven't updated to 1.0.1 yet though I doubt that would affect it.

I doubt it, it works as intended, which is that you can never get more than the amount of PP you currently have. If you replace a move with 10 PP with a move that has 20 PP it'll still have 10. No reason to patch anything since nothing actually gets restored. You can also just return to camp and rest whenever you want so restoring PP isn't even that big of a deal.

I couldn't get it without the using an air ball. But the guide I watched for all the unknown showed the jerk catching it with a normal ball. He had to stand right underneath basically aiming as straight up as possible. I tried that x7 and gave up and just hit it with a feather one.

You no longer need the 3 pokemon you used to activate the event, so you can come back with a stronger team. Also I think you can stun them with throwables before entering battle to reduce the number you need to take on at once. I don't remember exactly what I did, but I did end up walking out with all 4 of them caught.

Don't engage in actual battle.
Just hit Phione with a sticky glob to break its water shield, then a second to actually stun it and back strike it while dodging the attacks.
Repeat for the other Phione and then Manaphy itself.
I never entered battle and did it on my first try.

Although, how the fuck was I supposed to figure out how to actually get to Manaphy without looking it up?

I know there's the list here for what Pokemon and everything but it doesn't have what I need.
Is there a spreadsheet or something that lists what level you can catch them at?
For example, even though Gible is found around level 40s or whatever, it can be found at 23 or the Sinnoh starters being found around level 12 despite the higher levels nearby.
115 hours in with 216 Pokemon registered and I realised that I got too wrapped up in making money and grinding things our rather than my preferred method of play, actually RPing with an actual team.
I've since released everything but the few 1s and 0s I've bonded with and my shinies and am planning to grab a new Pokemon from a later area to be my "starter" and work towards a living dex but I can't figure out what I want to use.

Just something neat under say, level 30 would be great if anyone knows of anything off the top of their head.

Last game I played before this was Sun and Moon and only because a friend convinced me to get it with him on release.
I knew the Sea Prince was Manaphy after distinct memories of Ranger and finally getting my egg into DPPt but would never have guessed what to put on my team.

Funnily enough, I did know I'd have to swim through those two rocks the second I saw them but not why and was disappointed when nothing happened.

I actually prefer it this way cause I hate games where the UI actually gives you more information than the game world itself which means you just run around looking at the minimap

until you get the quest to "prepare well before returning to the temple" you can't do shit in town; you catch the legendary of whatever clan you team with for the lakes and get reinstated to the team and everything in the village is back to normal

It's not hard, the areas aren't THAT big and each area has paths to follow between each place you need to go to for the story. If you get lost just make way back to the path, you can even fast travel back to the camp and some other locations. The main quest indicator is also on your screen at all times unless you go out of your way to turn it off.

Every Pokémon that evolves by friendship has its whole evolutionary line available in the wild. If anything the Baby Pokémon are harder to find, I've only seen one Bonsly and I haven't found a single Cleffa or Riolu yet.
