Example, lets say 50% of Pokemon fans favorite is Charizard, that's one factory to satisfy the merch demands of half their fans, and that's WAY cheaper than having those 50% split between Pokemon. The way TCPI sees it, they've created a problem for themselves with this Greninja thing their underlings made, it was supposed to be a Lucario but it's gotten WAY out of hand, because now kids are growing up on Greninja when they're supposed to be growing up on Charizard and that fucks with their generational plan. Greninja kids will grow up and be a sizeable portion of adult Pokemon fans to rival the Charizard ones, and they'll have kids and raise THEIR kids on Greninja instead of Charizard. That's cutting into their Charizard 50% on the pie chart, even threatening to rival it one day, and that means making another factory to satisfy this part of the fanbase that was easily covered by just Charizard products previously and now TCPI is like "we have to add this fucking frog into the mix to keep them buying" and that means TCPI spends more and earns less.
The solution? Sabotage Greninja, push the FUCK out of Charizard, move past gen 6 as FAST as possible with no third version, make Sakurai put Incineroar on the Smash roster and push Incineroar in all media in the wake of Greninja as an attempt to divide and conquer Greninja fans, and start featuring only chunks of the pokedex each game as an excuse to never feature the fucker again.
As far as Gamefreak is concerned if they can satisfy 80-90+% of Pokemon fans with just Charizard, Pikachu, Eevee, Mewtwo, and Lucario they've won. And Greninja threatens the balance.
