You play the story once and you're done. You can only fill the dex once. There isn't any reason to replay this game since the entire experience is available from the start.
Shines are now easy to find and exploit, making them less valuable, and people will spend less time trying to obtain them. It's the same amount of content, just in a much shorter time frame

I think OP is justified in thinking the game would have more on offer since it was hyped up for almost a full year. Every other game is something you can play over again with a different team or come back to when you feel like it to do some breeding or pvp. With this games format and smaller roster there's kind of no reason to come back

It's not as satisfying to do so in PLA because there are far less battles take take advantage of your team with and you stull have to grind the stars to unlock the next area. They had a timeless formula that worked and threw it out

Honestly the over abundance of trash trainer battles really killed my motivation to do it with other mons than what I had on hand because it just wasn't needed.

This formula isn't perfect, and I hope they continue to work on it, but I'm ultimately still fighting the same trash mon 15 times no matter how I look at it so I don't really see an issue. I'm more pissed off we only have 250 mons in a game about capturing.

I beat the game, married the legal loli, found all the upgrades, maxed my party to lv 99, found all the small medals, did all the legacy game missions and beat the 2D bosses, beat the post game, and beat the secret boss, while keeping my optional difficulty options turned on, now wha-oh wait, I'm actually fulfilled by all the content the game had with it's stellar presentation and fully voice acted cutscenes. You can beat GS with its two regions, DP with its slow ass health bars and snow/marsh, and SMUSUM with its nonstop cutscenes, in less than 8 hours? Do most people speedrun these games with an overleveled starter rather than a full team and save Dex completion for the postgame? XY were the fastest games for me to complete (other than the original RBY) and they still took me over 40 hours since I try to max out my Dex as much as feasibly possible during the main campaign.

Except getting korok seeds isn't the main goal, it's just an optional activity that you can do while you explore, can only be seen by actually paying attention, by trying to solve the puzzle and there's some decent variety in those puzzles. Finding random wisps and pressing a single button is hardly captivating and not even remotely comparable. There's decent criticism to be made against the korok seeds, but PLA's wisps have absolutely 0 redeeming qualities.
