I literally could not beat this guy when I was 10. It took me until I was a teenager to even stand a chance against him.

My main Pokemon for winning fights was Wobbuffet, and Mirror Coat doesn't work on dark-type attacks. I was a rare breed of retard who hardly used his starter and spread out EXP over a very wide range of Pokemon, meaning my highest leveled Pokemon (Wobbuffet and a few others) were in their 30s.
