What would be the purpose? The main series is already in 3D, so tacking on a story mode is mostly pointless now.

I can see something more like Stadium/Battle Revolution, though, if only to throw a bone to the BBTND crowd.

Not at this level of battle-simulator-but-a-game, but it should be similar if they take on PLA formula except regular amounts of trainers

The main series is still 2D masquerading as 3D. PLA was the first real main series 3D game, and it can't even be called a Pokemon game like Colosseum and Gale of Darkness can.
