does going to sleep/ waiting for night to come reset the night encounter tables? Because I swear I KO'd the Alpha Clefable, stayed in the Highlands filling out research tasks, and then I came back and it was there again.

I kinda don't like that alphas are so easy to sneak catch. One oran berry and a gigaton ball and it's basically guaranteed success. Even the 85 garchomp had to kneel.

Considering you can catch almost everything in this game without engaging in combat I feel like it would've been smarter to reserve the alphas in particular to only being caught in combat. Would've changed the games dynamic a bit.

Again, not how randomness works. It might happen to be the same level and gender even if it is random. The only actual 100% proof would be if you got a different pokemon and proved it WAS random. Proving non-randomness would take 2-3 resets at least to get a truly reasonable level of confidence.

What does it mean for certain foods to attract better than others? Does it mean that the pokemon will smell it from a longer distance? Or that it will eat for a longer time? Or that it will be easier to catch?
I've been fine with oran berries, but maybe I've missed out

In my experience, mons will just ignore foods they don’t like. It will grab their attention, but then they sort of inspect it and then turn around and go back to what they were doing. Berries usually work, but they don’t distract them as well as the right food type.

They’re like balls where it’s not an area of effect you must hit them on target with it
It stuns everything but alphas but if you stun in the middle of an attack animation then attack will continue despite the mon being mechanically (and visually if you look close) stunned

40 hours in and i still don't really get what determines whether you get double turns, especially when it seems like things divert from the 'preview' all the time. seems like enemies always get double turns from an agile move while for me its almost always just gives me a double turn in two or three turns form now

It's an ATB that you can't see, and moves have speed values that aren't explained anywhere. Like some status moves increase your speed, some high damage moves reduce your speed, some moves like bite/crunch slow down your opponent, etc.
The preview isn't reliable since it changes depend on what moves the opponent does, even if it's not agile/strong styled.

It just feels disappointing compared to other legendary fights. In other games, it's your team, the pokemon you caught and raised personally, that have become strong enough to defeat/catch a god. In PLA, it's "fuck your team, they're useless, here's a legendary we forced you to catch 20 minutes ago". It feels like there's no point to raising your own team when they don't get to contribute to the fight at all. The locus of the story fundamentally shifts from "the strength of a trainer's bond with their pokemon" to "the strength of a legendary pokemon you have no connection to and may not even want to use".
I'll stop sperging now though because I don't want to derail the thread.

I found resting, they almost never came quickly. Without resting, maybe between 10-30 minutes reliably.

I still haven't completed my pokedex I'm clocked in at 166 mons and yet I can't bring myself to focus on it, I wanna shiny hunt I thought it was suppose to be easy but I'm 3 days into this Buneary hunt and still not a single shiny despite the research task being complete how much does the shiny charm help? Is it really worth it to get it?

Just engage combat with 2 to 3 Zubats but do nothing, just let the Switch run on the side while the night cycle goes on and finishes since time passes while in fights. Once day is up, capture them all. Go back to camp and night time again and so on. I did that to complete the research page early.

The 10 companions are the 5 lords and 5 mounts (as confirmed by the statues at the temple of Sinnoh) but that clearly isn't what's shown on the tablet. I can only see Ursaluna (which there are for some reason two of like the other anon said, Wyrdeer, Basculegion, and possibly Arcanine, but it looks like the tablet also has at least Palkia and Regigigas on it.
