>>49567425I've played for over 50 hours, I'm three Pokemon from battling Arceus (Bonsly, Cherubi and Spiritomb) and I can tell you, that's NOT the gameplay loop. The only time I remember mindlessly catching the same species over and over was on mass outbreaks for shiny hunting purposes, usually research level 10 for a species can be filled by catching a couple of them and either training or battling against them. Also the sizes, overworld shinies, alphas and the fact catching and battling is way faster than ever by virtue of being seamless (without getting into an debate about how fun it is), so you could catch 5 mons in less time than you'd enter a single fight in any other game, makes the whole thing more engaging that it seems on paper. Also I like the fact that you can either stealth, throw berries, stun OR bring to low health a mon for catching it, instead of just the latter, deciding your approach to a task always make it less boring over time.
It's okay that you don't like it and prefer other aspects, but the fact you can't understand how it is fun for other people is so sad.
