After recommending the games to a couple of friends and my ex and watching them play I finally realize that these series are garbage on an objective stand point.
The amount of fun you'll get from these series is relative to how much you CARE about it. How much you care about the mons, how much you care to manage your team, how much you care about typing matchups and all that. Because the games are either a snoozefest if you come from a background of having played better games, or it's going to feel impossible if you're retarded or a woman.
So just play the game that has the least to do with the old formula.
