I like both but I wish Pokemon didn't ape Yokai Watch so hard out of reactionary fear... this was a case where I did not need peanut butter in my chocolate and would have rather kept them separate.

you can direct special moves and give items that affect their behavior. the befriending system is ass in the first game and better but not by much in the second. the third game lets you grind out the guaranteed befriending items.
