>>49575451The gym leader levels don’t exactly raise a lot between chuck and pryce. Chuck, Jasmine and pryce are roughly close in levels because the game is trying to end at level 50 while still keeping the rule of being very underpowered for the champion.
You should also consider the trainers before the league, which Is a big jump that happens due to clairs own big jump, the games basically trying for you not to overlevel clair.
I don’t remember kanto gym leaders being a step below you, they pretty much progress in the order the game trues to get you to face them starting with lt surge, i don’t think its weird that they start lower leveled than the first time you fight lance if thats your argument, and they so eventually overtake him. Kanto trainers go between high thirties and low forties as you progress, this isn’t anything new for a pokemon game closing in on the end. Infact red and blue is even worse about this in the routes you do before the 5th, 6th and even 7th gyms.
