He already stepped back from directing games two generations ago, he probably feels relieved to see that the Pokémon juggernaut will do just fine without him (if not better). Dude could probably retire if he wanted to, and he’s only in his 50s (I think?). It’s easy to forget about pride when you’re getting gargantuan bonuses from the games selling so well.
