the more time passes the more I resent Blastoise for ruining Wartortle. I prefer bulba and ivy to their third evo too. at least Charmeleon is pretty ugly so you don't miss it as much

Pretty sure that Blastoise's (#28) design is speculated to be far older than Squirtle's (#177) and Wartortle's (#179). And Nishida was not yet part of the team when it was made.
Also, Ivysaur would be the oldest design of his evo line by a longshot.

It's not hard to be better than Meganium.
In all seriousness I like the buds sprouting into flowers but I hate that the forehead leaf is just gone. Middle stages having cool aspects that just disappear when it reached the final stage is disappointingly common.
