>>49585894>Gamefreak has already confirmed that Dyna/Gigantomax is exclusive to the Galar region and will never appear elsewhere. How does this make you feel? That it's a pointless thing they only shoehorned to try and make SWSH feel special when they inevitably remove it.
>Was the gimmick well conceived? No. The GMAX designs look like Digimon and overall the mechanic itself is over centralizing and inconsistent with how it wants to seat itself in the narrative.
>What did it add to the world of Pokemon?Nothing. Like Z-Moves, it's a self-contained gimmick that doesn't contribute to the overarching lore or anything because they refused to let it have any connection to anything. Sad, really. They could have given the Darkest Day some connection to the Ultimate Weapon since it also fired 3000 years ago, but nope.
> What did it add to the gameplay mechanics? An "insta-win" button for singleplayer and the "strategy" of "do I make my opponent press the button now, wait until they press it first, or wait for one of us to go for the revenge kill after the first one has already been used"
>Why was Dynamax considered such a divisive gimmick in comparison to previous battle gimmicks, like Megas and Z-Moves?Because it confirmed the shittiest part of Z-moves in that they were only made to be a gimmick to try and give something exclusive to the newest region without putting thought into whether or not the thing was actually good, and it was doing so at the expense of Megas which actually were unanimously liked and could be easily balanced on a case-by-case basis even without adding new ones as was the case in Gen 7 for those like Mega Kang.
>Why is it so widely reviled? All of the above. Gimmicks are unhealthy for the series, and we'll only know that Gen 9 will be decent when we know for sure they aren't trying to go for a third one.
