>>49588544It really could, it doesn't let you log in from multiple devices anyways so they could do a final offline update that treats it like a digital game and saves your pokemon internally so you could continue moving pokemon from gen 4 up through gen 7. Maybe update home to be able to locally connect to the 3ds, but that would mean putting in effort to maintain a dead service for free when it used to cost $5 a year per user and the number of active users will only continue to dwindle meanwhile it'd be another potential entry point for hackers.
