Red can't stay Kanto champion because he won't return to Indigo Plateau and doesn't give a shit about the title, just training on mountains and getting stronger. And Blue is running the Ground Gym, so it defaults all the way back to Lance. Point being Kanto kids are irresponsible assholes

Can't explain Lorelei, but Agatha became too old to be an Elite Four and gave the position to Koga.

I imagine you have to do a bunch of shit as Champion. Press and media shit, appearances, running the league to an extent. It’s probably not a great idea for the sitting champion to be a child.

I think Blue could have handled the celebrity parts, but he'd rather spend time in Viridian City instead of way out in bumfuck nowhere Indigo Plateau where there's nothing to do but League crap and answering the occasional challenger that makes it past Lance and the job squad
