We'll know in Gen 9. If they make a new game for Johto (be it a reremake or a Legends game) then they'll most likely continue making games for older regions. I'd expect a Hoenn revisit in Gen 11-13, since Gen 10 would probably revisit Unova.

I doubt it. RS turns 20 this year and there's absolutely no excitement surrounding the world anymore. Hoennbabies got their remake, and there isn't much left to say about it.

Remakes have ruined pokemon. Legends is alright because it's such a radically different take but the pattern of obligatory remakes takes dev time away from newer games.

Being fair, looking at games like Sword and Shield devs aren't putting that much time into them regardless of remakes. If anything they should be discouraged because it lets them create a shit game and then "fix" it later, but that's already a thing with DLC/Third versions so it's not like remakes have hurt anything.

I usually hate Kanto pandering, but a Legends style game would be pretty great. I'd hope they'd make it a story about why Kanto is relatively Legendary-less, maybe a past event that purged legends from the land.

ORAS sold more copies than FRLG and HGSS despite being lower quality. The same is even more true for BDSP, which was developed by a literal who company and didn't even have any Pokemon past 493, making the remakes practically pointless when Platinum already exists and anyone can speed up the game on an emulator. Pokemon fans lap up games regardless of quality/effort. SwSh's 23 million sales is proof.

Maybe now that they've made a Legends game for Sinnoh (Hokkaido) they'll make a single Legends game for the other three japanese regions before moving to Legends Unova/Kalos/Alola/etc.

These regions would be neat if packaged together, because some of the Sevii Islands are possible to go to from Ruby & Sapphire. Kanto can be visited in GSC & HGSS and Sevii can be visited from Kanto in FRLG. Its like theyre interconnected through different renditions of the games but never all accessible in one game.
