I hope they're making a Stadium 3 or something similar but I wouldn't list PLA not having online battles as a reason why.

I'd imagine it would have connectivity with PLA.

Like, you should be able to transfer your pokemon from there to Stadium 3. As well as SwSh and other games.

Sure but I don't think GF sat down and said let's not include online battles in PLA because we've got Bandai working on Stadium 3. Perhaps so for all I know but I would think online battles would just be out of place in a game like PLA.

Sadly for you, the devs call it mainline.
Should have realised how they classify shit, when they came out and said LGPE wasn't a spin-off despite being based off spin-off mechanics. Anything they make connected to the world is mainline - even Dream Radar had its Professor added to the core games, while the *other* spin-off academics are notable by their absence.
