Doubt it. A lot of animes are going the lazy route or completely changing art directions. The new Dragon Ball Super movie is entirely 3DCG for example and the previous movie used 3DCG for fight scenes. People can't be assed to draw any more and it sucks they could fucking outsource the animation to some sweatshop that wouldn't mind the work if they really wanted to but they choose not to so we're most likely gonna be stuck with SM for about the same if not longer time than the way the old anime entries looked

Pokemon knows their audience and that we (meaning pretty much anyone past their puberty) are ravenously hungry for material that breaks moulds, We jizz a seeing pokemon dip their toes into bloodshed or Mystery Dungeon spinoffs or le ebic anime faces and bringing back X character for a nostalgia bait. It is us on one side of their calculation and the children who make up their other block of consumers and pokemon needs to balance between child appeal and not getting slapped with a teen rating.

Personally I'm not a big fan.
If at least it had "real" crystals i would give it a doubt but rn it looks like a zombie Pikachu + the sculpt isn't that great (looks like clay).
I can't believe it's 2200 bucks, but I guess it's more the prestige you're buying rather than the sculpture in itself since the guy seems like an important name in his domain.

The XY anime and the Yajimaverse movies still had that tru-Pokemon vibe, it's the main anime SM and PM2019 seasons that went for a different change in style but I guess that's just how the flow of generations works
