Yes and it should be SE against Fairy. That one change would make it a viable type.

Bug actually has a pretty cool type matchup list in how a lot of what's it good again often have on't cover the same niches or strengths/weakness, or sometimes even interact with each other at all like Ground vs Dark or Psychic vs Plant. It's only really held back by having juuuust to few SE attacks to be good in competitive (that and GameFreak often gives Bugs bad stats on purpose). Making them SE against the most meta (and on top of that defensive) type would push them over the threshold.

It is. I remember back when SWSH came out I did a percentage of all the typings for myself, I ended up liking like 92% of Bug Type pokemon. I do prefer Grass types overall in terms of just how well I like them, but Bug types are pretty fucking based.

Normal used to be the utility/all around phys option in gen 1-2. then it just dropped out as SE coverage became more important and movepools expanded. In Gen 4 Bug picked up the utility niche and that grew more and more like Leech Life, U-turn, First Impression.
Bug is kinda limited in design for spec since any special bug attacker worth a shit always packs QD and mostly Bug Buzz.
