It's not bad, but it is an extremely simplified remake of Yellow Version that uses a lot of Pokemon Go Mechanics.

One could argue it doesn't belong on a current gen console at $60

But there was enough trainers to battle that it doesn’t matter and catching Pokémon is fun because you get exp. I’ve played every Pokémon nearly and I love them. I don’t care if they are normie type games since they are super fun.

The only issues I had with LGPE was not being able to play as Red or Green and them limiting the dex to just the OG 151. I am not saying they had to include all gen 2-7 Pokemon, but cross evolutions of gen 1 Pokemon should have been included. They already included megas and regional forms, so it wasn't like they were beholding to just the OG 151.

Yes. Not just best looking Kanto games, but best looking Pokemon games in general. Great aesthetics and cool features but awful gameplay that literally babies you (you can't enter gyms unless you show the man at the gate a Pokemon that either has a type advantage or is extremely overleveled).

If you really like Kanto you’ll probably like it but it’s REALLY nothing special. It is a very fun version of the original games tho, but it lacks a certain adventure element cause the maps are even more cramped than they were on the GB

I don't like the gym requirements either but the only gym that requires an overleveled mon is Sabrina's and even then, it's a level 45 mon where her Alakazam is level 44, so it's not even that overleveled.
