Why is the Totodile line so based bros?

Would love a Water/Ground or Dark regional variant on all fours and with more swampy colours.

I would hate dark typing. His moveset is already kinda boring and dark type would change nothing.
I honestly would prefer something more left field, like fighting.
His mega should absolutely be water/dragon to complete the trio with sceptile and charizard.
