Nah, as much as I like PLA more trainer battles would be really nice, hope the dlc adds an island full of natives that use Pokemon to fight and survive

It was always the encounter system.
It was the bane of exploration.
SwSh and LGPE having visible encounters was good, PLA making it a player choice was better.

Actually I think this game is fucking boring because it has barely any trainer battles. Completing the PokeDex checklists would be more fun if it was just something that was happening in the background of a regular game and you get an extra prize if you have checked one off, not something that impedes actual gameplay.

i thought so, until playing PLA and realizing that i barely made any attachment to my team since i rarely let them out of the ball (grinding resources feels flat so doesn't make much of a difference)

it was while battling that suspense moments were made and i got to really attach to them and make memories, i guess
