apart from my retarded child nostgia, all of the pokemon games are souless after Crystal. Gold and silver was supposed to be the last game.

at the time, the talent in game freak was wasted remaking the same garbage content for 2 and half decades. I am now wondering what other franchises we could of had that instead of reused asset simulator.

BW are the worst games in the series hands down
XY are bland as hell, BDSP are bland and soulless, SwSh are soulless and barren AND unfinished bullshit, but BW are the worst (yes BW2 are much better but they don’t make up for the atrocity that was BW.)

Swap ORASS with XY (I don't even consider ORASS to be a playable video game, it's about equal in quality to really bad Pokemom bootlegs like Jade version). Also swap SwSh with FRLG. SwSh are bad games but honestly the music is soulful and the waifus are hot.

BDSP wasn't made by GameFreak. It was made by ILCA who hadn't made any other games so I'd cut them some slack. XY was bland, but they were the first 3D games GameFreak worked on so again I wouldn't complain too much. ORAS could've been much better but were certainly not soulless (see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTSN-yQ6nWE). SwSh didn't have any reason to have the tiniest region (prior to the DLC)., especially when they cut out so many Pokemon and moves. Even though they streamlined things for competitive players, they failed to deliver on the single player campagin. So I'd have to say OP is correct. SwSh is definitely the most soulless.
