Change the horn, there's plenty of different samurai helmet styles that could differentiate it from normal Samurott. Or even the clamshell kasa design that was posted around would fit, but I guess Decidueye already claimed that.
On a lesser note, it should also have gender differences like normal samurott - maybe keep the whiskers but no beard for the female.

Yeah. I feel people misunderstood how regionals work. People expected it's variant to go harder on the samurai design when regionals are mostly treated as a "variation" of the original than an "enhancement" like a Megas/Gmax form would do

Not my fucking job as a customer to improve on Gamefreaks work. All I will tell you is that it's lazy, it sucks, and I hate it.

Nope. The only Gen 5 mons that have Gender Differences are the two obvious ones: Unfezant and the Jellicent Line.

either break the horn to make it into a gun shape or simply modify the whole helmet to make it look like a tanegashima
if original samurott is supposed to represent muh samurai with all the bushido bullshit, then make dark samurott represent the fall of the samurai, a samurai that has been (((corrupted))) by westerner technology and isn't scared of fighting dirty (dark type) by bringing a gun to a sword fight

make it's front half a bit bulkier by adding more armor, like moving his forearm armor up and make it into pauldrons and some sort of small chestplate and shorten his mustache and make him into a special attacker with good physical defense

I actually like it myself and it's the only Mon I've levelled to 100 because of how much of a bro it was on my first playthrough, but I think a different, more samurai inspired helmet ala the warring states period armour or even just one of those flat straw hats like >>49743256 would be more visually interesting.
Maybe even give it Katana style blades that either look visually brittle or have serrated edges for Ceaseless Edge.
That's about ti though, but I honestly think it looks fine as is then again I also thought the same for OG Rott

Give it an otter body shape with cute, webbed paws and sharp claws. It could still stand on its hind legs and use the swords while mainly being on all fours the rest of the time.

I assume they might've went with a straw hat clam if the grass starter didn't already used that motif.
Hisuian Sam's helmet actually is a bit more samuraish though, the sides now has some horn designs that together resemble an arrow
