>>49759097Sword and Shield battles aren’t as seamless as the ones in Legends Arceus. You still have to fight through loading screens and level up menus/text boxes, and while not as sluggish as previous games still don’t flow well and are harder to go back to ever since Legends Arceus came out.
Moreover, the battles themselves just feel so detached from the rest of the game because you’re magically transported to a battle zone rather than just having the battle take place in the field, which makes sense on the Game Boy with hardware limitations but an outdated formula that just feels like lazy traditionalism 25 years later.
Even the trainer battles in legends arceus, as sparse as they are, at the very least still feel like they take part in the world you’re in rather than taking you to The Void, and that’s the main thing I hope at least carries over into main games.
