>>49767888New gimmick is emphasis on new regional variants. There will be 70 totally new monsters and 50 regional variants. Emphasis will be on later generations.
Drowsy, Frostbite, and Effort Levels are here to stay. To partially make up for the removal of EVs and IVs, individual Pokemon will get access to a larger pool of moves than usual.
One legendary will be a bull.
City shown in trailer will be the "main" city. It's in the rough center of the region (think Madrid). Like Jubilife Village, a large variety of sidequests originate from there and it's upgraded several times, providing more services for the player, as a result of the player fulfilling said sidequests.
Story is somewhat different than usual. I think it will involve a boarding school situation, with the player character maybe studying to be a Pokemon Ranger or research assistant or something, and the player goes out into the world and does stuff as part of their field studies. As part of a larger class, there will be 4-5 other students who are distinct characters, whose relationship with the player varies. One might be the classic "rival" character determined to perform better in their academic career than the player, one might be a steadfast ally, one might be a manipulator that eventually betrays the player and joins the evil team for personal gain, etc.
If this turns out to be the actual plot of the game, I think the head of the school will be teased to be secretly a part of the villainous faction, but this will ultimately be revealed to be untrue and they were working towards benevolent ends the entire time.
