Every Pokemon Gen has pretended the MCs are blank slates, but given them canon names and characterizations. They treat them as real characters.

So why on earth are they throwing that away to create these bland blank-slate avatars? Are they supposed to be identical twins?

these designs are literally early route NPC tier. I get it that these are uniforms, but there are ways to make a uniform interesting. see: smt, persona, etc.
