>finishing my ribbon eevee that is stuck in gen 4

It’s a lot but i can make tons or progress during weekends and vacations

I've got everything up to SM except Mew and maybe Marshadow. I really can't remember.
Or rather I have everything you need to breed a living dex, since they didn't give you enough box spaces in SM to have them all so I cut down to just fully evolved.
I really would like to be able to catch 'em all again someday.
I would literally go out and buy a switch, SwSh, PLA and BD right now if they had announced full dex for SV

Nah im doing things the hard way, because it's really satysfying to get all the pokemon from their original gen now i have a bunch of good memories from gen 1 and 2 whenever i see my boxes like the specific location to get smeargle, trading game corner coins for porygon, hatching the odd egg, solving the puzzle to collect all the unown in crystal and then remembering that the "! " and "?" unown first appeared in FRLG so i had to visit the tanoby chambers in the sevii islands to get them, it really makes you travel all over every region

Interesting take and I can see why that would be a desirable approach. I'm going to continue to compile my living dex as I currently am, and then if I ever get the itch to do it this way then I'll always have the option (at least for as long as 3DS/Switch compatibility lasts).

As it is worded in the press release you could argue that, yes, in the same way Gen 6 or 7 had everything coded inside but for certain species it was up to you to transfer or trade them. However in the same vein we can interpret it as "This game has a cut dex and certain other non-native species that are available is up to you as the player to transfer/trade them if you want to use them"
