The three year gaps should have been the first clue. The amount of Pokemon and regional forms in Gen 8 should've been the second. The amount of games should've been the third.

Literally none of them were right this time around, even the DLC rumors were wrong:

On the route before Stow-on-side there is a hiker NPC who says she is from another region and yells in Spanish when beaten.
The second was just looking forward in the direction they were going: game with partially open map -> update with completely open map -> game with completely open map made sense, and Legends in between basically confirmed it.

the art on the japanese twitter gave it away for me, it was literally a countdown to gen 9 with every day leading up to pokemon day going up a generation. Plus every gen is 3 years, the only 2 gens that were 4 years were gens 3 and 4.
